A Hot Springs woman was arrested Wednesday night after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend because she believed he was cheating.

Rachel Catherine Taylor, 24, who lists a Mathews Drive address, was taken into custody at around 7 p.m. Wednesday and charged with third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail, and public intoxication.

She remained in custody Thursday on zero bond and is set to appear Oct. 24 in Garland County District Court.

According to the affidavit, Hot Springs police made contact with a man and a woman, later identified as Taylor, walking in the 200 block of Westwood Street. The man told officers they had been in an altercation while inside a residence in the 100 block of Westwood.

He said the altercation began when he received a call from his ex-girlfriend and Taylor accused him of cheating on her. He said Taylor hit him in the face several times.

He said he attempted to push her off him, but she reportedly continued striking and pushing him. When he attempted to evade her by leaving, she allegedly followed him out the door and continued to push him until he fell into his vehicle.

Taylor reportedly began walking away and he followed her in his vehicle to Hot Springs World Class High School, 701 Emory St., where he allegedly got back out with her. An argument occurred between the two, but he said he was able to calm Taylor down and persuade her to get in his vehicle.

At one point she became angry again when he refused to drive her home and began hitting him again and bit him on his finger, he said, before she started walking south on Westwood.

When officers located the pair, the man reportedly had visible swelling and bruising around his right eye, his left ring finger was covered in tooth marks and bleeding, he had scratch marks on his neck and his shirt was torn.

Taylor was reportedly unsteady on her feet, had a strong odor of intoxicants and red eyes. The only sign of injury was reportedly blood on her fingers and broken fingernails. Taylor reportedly stated her boyfriend was cheating on her so she slapped him in the face.

Taylor later alleged he had hit her and choked her, but she reportedly admitted she slapped him first.
