Two Hot Springs residents were arrested outside of their home early Wednesday on multiple felony drug charges after officers allegedly located various drugs and paraphernalia inside a pickup with fictitious tags.
Douglas Shane Morrison, 37, and Tabitha Mechelle Reed, 21, who both list 3017 Albert Pike as their address, were taken into custody shortly after 2 a.m. and each charged with felony counts of possession of meth with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, possession of Hydrocodone with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to 10 years, possession of Diazepam and possession of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana. Morrison also had two warrants for failure to appear.
Both were being held in lieu of $14,500 bond, and are set to appear in Garland County District Court on Nov. 6.
According to the affidavit, Garland County sheriff's Deputy Josh Parker was patrolling near the intersection of Albert Pike and Thornton Ferry roads when he observed a man, later identified as Morrison, exit and re-enter a white 1994 Chevrolet pickup which was determined to have fictitious tags.
Parker made contact with the two occupants of the vehicle, identified as Morrison and Reed, who both failed to provide identification or documentation on the vehicle. Both gave their names and date of birth but Reed reportedly had difficulty remembering her date of birth. Due to the lack of identification, documentation, fictitious tags and suspicion of a false name, the occupants were asked to exit the vehicle.
A dispatcher advised that Morrison had a suspended driver's license and two warrants for his arrest, so Parker called for the vehicle to be towed. During an inventory search of the vehicle Parker allegedly located a clear glass smoking pipe covered in suspected meth, one Diazepam pill, two Hydrocodone pills, 5 grams of marijuana and around 4.3 grams of meth inside a zippered bag.
Once at the detention center, Reed reportedly admitted she provided a false name.
