A Hot Springs man was arrested on felony charges Wednesday morning after Garland County sheriff's deputies allegedly located two pistols and more than 100 prescription pills in his possession following a traffic stop.

Timothy James Allen, 23, who lists a Scott Street address, was taken into custody just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, punishable by up to life in prison, possession of methadone with intent to deliver, possession of clonazepam with intent to deliver and possession of diazepam with intent to deliver, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

He remained in custody Thursday in lieu of a zero bond, and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, deputies stopped a white jeep in the 2600 block of Albert Pike Road after the driver allegedly made an improper lane change. Deputies made contact with the driver and the passenger, later identified as Allen, sitting in the back seat.

Allen reportedly failed to provide ID but told deputies his name. He was reportedly acting very nervous with his hands shaking. A single bullet and a clip with several bullets in it were reportedly sitting in the seat beside him.

Sgt. Josh Cannon asked Allen to step out of the vehicle to pat him down, and as he did so Cannon allegedly observed the orange cap of a needle inside Allen's pocket.

When asked if he had anything else on his person, he allegedly admitted he had pills in his pocket "that kept him calm." Inside his front right pocket, Cannon reportedly located another syringe and a zipper pouch that contained 95 clonazepam pills in 10 individual baggies, four diazepam, 20 mirtazipine in two separate bags and two methadone pills.

Allen was arrested and Cannon searched the vehicle, allegedly locating two .25-caliber pistols, one matching the bullet and clip found in the seat.

The driver was cited for driving on a suspended license and improper lane change.
