Lupus benefit golf slated Saturday

The 20th Terry Paul Thode Lupus Memorial golf tournament, benefiting Lupus Foundation of Arkansas Inc. is Saturday at Diamondhead Country Club. Registration begins at noon and tee time is 1 p.m.

The four-person scramble offers divisions for males, females and mixed teams. Entry fee is $60 for a Diamondhead member not using a golf cart and $70 for all others. A dinner follows the round with tickets $13 per guest.

Southwest Airlines has donated four Epasses (airline tickets) worth $800 to be auctioned during the dinner hour. Minimum bid is $600.

High school volleyball

MAGNOLIA -- Mason Aitken and Morgan Fincham combined for 33 winning serves, 18 by Aitken, in Lake Hamilton's 3-1 victory over Magnolia here Thursday.

Aitken served three aces and had 11 digs and two assists. Fincham, with one ace, had 18 digs and seven kills.

Allison Trantham added six winning serves (one ace), 12 kills and eight digs. Brooke Powell had six winning serves (two aces), six kills and 16 digs.

Scores were 22-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-13.

Savannah Brown had 11 points, three digs and two kills as Lake Hamilton junior varsity downed Magnolia 2-0. Meadow Orrell chipped in eight points and four kills in the 25-10, 25-11 triumph.

Lake Hamilton plays Lakeside on Tuesday at Wolf Arena, the JV match starting at 5 p.m. and the varsity following.

* Fountain Lake maintained its undefeated record with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-20 win over Arkadelphia Thursday night.

Lyndsey Blees recorded nine service points and six kills for the Lady Cobras while Olivia Cox chipped in with 15 kills. Now 9-0 overall and 4-0 in conference, Fountain Lake hosts Cutter Morning Star Tuesday at Bass Gymnasium.

Fountain Lake's junior varsity won 25-21, 25-22 behind eight kills from Carena Bledsoe and six service points by Sophie Skinner.

* Lakeside Junior High's ninth-grade volleyball team recorded 27 kills Thursday in a home victory over visiting Camden Fairview.

Maddie Trusty had 10 kills, three digs, a solo block and four assists for the Lady Rams. Natalie Jennings totaled 12 assists, two aces, a kill and two digs. Adachi Igbokidi added six kills and three solo blocks, Haley Fauber four kills and two assists, Katie Ballard three kills and Ava Monte two kills and two digs.

Lakeside's eighth-grade won 25-10, 25-21. Annaliese McAlister had 20 service points (four aces) and Sarah Porter eight (two aces) for the Lady Rams.

Lakeside has junior-high matches Monday at Jessieville and Tuesday at Little Rock Mount St. Mary.

High school golf

BISMARCK -- Mena edged Fountain Lake by four strokes for the team title in a nine-hole golf match here Tuesday at DeGray Lake Resort State Park.

Senior Montana Carden had a 39 to lead the Cobras (137). Mena's Austen Johnston took medalist honors with a par 36.
