The 11 sisters of Siervas, a rock band like 'nun' other

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. -- There's an unusual band waiting to see if they're among those selected when the Latin Grammy nominations are announced Wednesday.

Known as "Siervas", a group of 11 nuns formed a band in a Peruvian convent three years ago.

They now travel far and wide to perform songs in traditional black-and-white habits to the ringing of electric guitar and a rock 'n' roll beat.

Their songs of love and faith in Spanish have earned over a million YouTube views and led to the release of two CDs.

The religious sisters come from eight countries and are in their 20s to 40s. They say they grew up on rock 'n' roll music and hope their songs reach younger generations of faithful.

Emmycast shows women can do it for themselves, and everyone

NEW YORK -- The Emmy statuette depicts a winged woman. This year's Emmy telecast celebrated a TV season in which women, as never before, were able to soar.

The winning drama series and limited series were "The Handmaid's Tale" and "Big Little Lies," which both focused on issues of women as a vivid way to explore the human condition. "Veep," which stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the former U.S. president, won for best comedy.

The Emmycast unfolded as a bracing rebuttal as surveys continue to expose unfair representation by women in the Hollywood.

But Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss said a lot of work remains to be done. She spoke of meetings she attends where she suspects a project is rejected simply because it's by or about a woman.
