Local volleyball teams post big nonleague wins

Gaylynn Green recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 21 digs in Lakeside volleyball's 3-1 home victory Monday over Pulaski Academy.

Olivia Lawrence was named player of the game with 14 kills, 19 assists and 5 aces. Other Lady Ram contributors included Kailey Bausch (29 digs), Hannah Whorton (30 assists), Abby Mahoney (7 kills), Lyca Steelman (5 kills and 14 digs), Kayleigh Corjay (7 kills and 3 aces) and Meghan Fuller-Freeman (five kills and a solo block).

Scores were 22-25, 26-24, 25-11, 25-17.

Lakeside's varsity came off a 6-0 championship run in Saturday's Sheridan Invitational.

Lakeside's JV lost in three games despite Claire Monte's first double-double (11 kills and 17 digs). MC Cowen had 20 digs, Cailin Ward 7 kills and 21 assists, McKaila Davis 10 assists and Hattie Anne Douglas and Ainsley Rottinghaus 6 kills each. Scores were 18-25, 29-27, 15-11.

Lakeside's junior high won two matches from Little Rock Central on Monday, 25-15, 25-7 and 25-15, 25-12.

Macy Landry and Emi Kejser had 10 and 8 digs, respectively, for the Lady Rams, whose Natalie Jennings notched 12 service points (2 aces), 2 kills, 4 digs and 7 assists. Maddie Trusty chipped in five kills and four digs, Haley Fauber three kills and five assists, Katie Ballard three kills and an ace and Adachi Igbokidi two kills, a solo block and an ace.

Mena-L. Hamilton

PEARCY -- Lake Hamilton won 3-1 over perennial Class 4A power Mena on Monday night at Wolf Arena.

The Lady Wolves won fell 22-25 in the second set while winning the remaining three 25-23, 25-17, 26-24.

Morgan Fincham led with four aces, four kills, 16 digs and 13 assists, Brooke Powell had an ace, 10 kills and nine digs and Jessalyn Heckel added seven digs and six kills. Jenny Peake had seven kills and two aces and Alison Trantham eight kills for the Lady Wolves.

Lake Hamilton's junior varsity squad won 25-10, 25-20 with Hazley Irwin and Hope Adams each notching four kills.

The Lady Wolves host El Dorado Thursday.

Fountain Lake-J'ville

JESSIEVILLE -- Molly Breshears picked up 21 points, eight digs and four kills as undefeated Fountain Lake Lady downed Jessieville 3-0 Monday.

Emoree Martin added 12 kills for the Lady Cobras (12-0, 7-0) in the 25-14, 25-10, 25-15 match.

With Amy Jones posting eight points and five kills, Fountain Lake's junior varisty won 23-25, 25-16, 16-14.

Jaylin Rhodes' 18 service points helped the eighth-grade Lady Cobras win 25-3, 25-11, and Fountain Lake's junior high prevailed 25-17, 25-17.

On Thursday, Fountain Lake is home against Haskell Harmony Grove and Jessieville (3-9, 1-6) entertains Arkadelphia.
