Lake Hamilton teams take second, third at Ram Relays

Lake Hamilton garnered a number of first-place finishes Thursday in Lakeside's Ram Relays, but Conway was able to sweep the overall point titles in boys' and girls' events.

The Wolves finished second to Class 7A Conway in the boys' team totals. The Lady Wolves earned third place behind Conway and Class 6A Benton in the girls' team totals.

Lake Hamilton and Lakeside were joined by local athletes from Hot Springs and Malvern at the meet. Participating schools also included Arkadelphia, Conway Christian, De Queen, Greenbrier, Jacksonville, Pine Bluff, Vilonia and White Hall.

Junior Colby Swecker helped Lake Hamilton pick up first-place points in four events. He won the 800-meter run and 1600-meter run in addition to running on the winning relay teams in the 4x400-meter and 4x800-meter.

Senior Knowledge Hood also ran on the winning 4x400 relay. He won the boys' 400-meter dash and placed fourth in the 200-meter dash.

Another member of the 4x400 relay team, junior Haze Farmer, placed third in the 400-meter dash and took first place in the pole vault. The Wolves took the top two spots as classmate Michael Harris placed second.

A pair of seniors added to Lake Hamilton's first-place haul. Ramon Morales won the 3200-meter run and Will Burgess, a football signee for the Central Arkansas Bears, won the shot put in his first meet since having surgery to repair an injury.

Edie Murray gave the Lady Wolves first-place points in two events, winning both the long jump and the pole vault. Senior Grace Cole insured Lake Hamilton took the top two spots in both pole vault events, placing second behind Murray.

Seniors Josie Carson and Morgan Pruitt won the 1600-meter and 800-meter runs, respectively. The Lady Wolves also finished second in the 4x800-meter relay.

Lakeside senior Dupree Swanson and junior Taylor Gilham gave the Rams their best results of the day. Swanson took third in the 110-meter hurdles and fifth in the shot put. Gilham was third in the high jump and sixth in the long jump.

Jessieville senior Noah Eskew's third-place finish in the 1600-meter run was the best result of the meet for the Lions. Fellow senior Makayla Wilson placed in two events, taking fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus. Jessieville sophomore Katherine Elliot placed fourth in the discus.

Junior Eric Porter gave Hot Springs its best results. He placed seventh in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.
