Child abuse prevention conference Tuesday

The Child Abuse Prevention & Intervention: Moving from Awareness to Action Conference will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday in the Roy Rowe Auditorium at the Jones Historic Administration Building, 400 Linwood Ave.

The event will begin with refreshments at 8:30 a.m. The featured speakers will be Phyllis Bell, child welfare senior adviser for Gov. Asa Hutchinson, and Sherry Williamson, Arkansas Commission on Child Abuse, Rape and Domestic Violence. There will be additional presentations from Garland County Prosecuting Attorney Michelle Lawrence, local child abuse responders and members of the Multi-Disciplinary Child Abuse Review Team.

National Park College/Child Care Aware will offer 0.3 CEUs for people who attend the full three hours. The conference is presented by Ouachita Area Youth Council, Cooperative Christian Ministries and Clinic, National Park College, Hot Springs School District and Ouachita Children's Center.
