Information shared about HSV SCAT

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Representatives from the Hot Springs Village SCAT Transportation service recently shared information about their program at the Local Missions and Ministries Fair at Barcelona Road Baptist Church. SCAT stands for South Central Arkansas Transportation.

Lynda and Tom Grasse explained how SCAT coordinates volunteer drivers and vans for those who need low cost transportation to and from medical appointments, grocery stores, hair salons and more. Ride hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and a trip costs $4 each way.

They gave out information for anyone interested in volunteering with SCAT, either as a driver or a scheduler. Volunteers work a flexible schedule of 8-12 hours monthly. Currently, there are 65 volunteers working with SCAT.

Village SCAT is a nonprofit organization. Volunteer information and ride scheduling are available at 915-0087.
