A Hot Springs man was arrested Saturday night on a felony battery charge after allegedly hitting his wife and breaking her jaw during an argument.

Samuel Tracy Boisdrenghien, 41, of 117 Green Ridge Lane, was taken into custody at his residence shortly after 7:30 p.m. and charged with second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

He was being held on $50,000 bond and appeared Monday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Saturday, Cpl. Robbie Swinney was notified of a domestic disturbance that had occurred on Green Ridge Lane, off Marion Anderson Road, where a female victim had been transported to National Park Medical Center with injuries to her face that might require surgery.

Swinney went to NPMC and made contact with the woman who initially told him her injuries were her fault and she didn't want to pursue any charges against her husband, identified as Boisdrenghien.

After talking to her further, she reportedly stated she had got angry at her husband because he was always drinking alcohol on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and would keep her away from her family.

Earlier that day, she had left their home on foot and walked about 3 miles before returning home to confront him. She reportedly admitted to scratching him on the back at one point during the argument.

She said Boisdrenghien slapped her or punched her in the face, she couldn't remember for certain, and at the moment he struck her she knew he had broken her jaw.

Swinney noted while he was still talking with her, hospital staff were getting her ready for surgery due to her injury.

Swinney then went to the couple's residence and made contact with Boisdrenghien who stated his wife fell against a dryer and injured herself. He was taken into custody without incident.
