ROYAL -- The body of an unidentified person was discovered in Lowe Cemetery Saturday evening, a spokesman for the Garland County Sheriff's Department said Sunday.
Deputies with the Garland County Sheriff's Department responded to Lowe Cemetery in Royal at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday after receiving a call about a dead person reportedly being found in the cemetery, Under Sheriff Jason Lawrence said Sunday.
Once deputies arrived at the scene and confirmed the presence of a body, the area was closed off to the public to allow the Criminal Investigation Division to conduct its investigation, Lawrence said.
Lawrence said he was unable to comment on the person's identity or if the department suspects foul play. He said the body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for identification and the investigation is ongoing.
