Razorback women win

again in Abilene

ABILENE, Texas -- Arkansas' women's basketball team pulled away in the fourth quarter Saturday to take an 80-68 win at Abilene Christian.

Arkansas (7-3), of the Southeastern Conference, and Abilene (7-2), of the Southland Conference, were separated by just two points at 57-55 at the end of three quarters. An 11-0 run to start the final frame led to a 23-13 advantage for the Razorbacks as they picked up their second true road victory of the season.

Junior Alexis Tolefree led four players in double figures. She dropped 21 points for her seventh game this season in double figures and her second with more than 20 points.

Senior guard Malica Monk added 18 points and four assists in 26 minutes. Arkansas also got 12 points from each of post players Kiara Williams and Taylah Thomas. Williams paced Arkansas with 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the year.

Arkansas trailed after the first quarter, but the long-distance shots started to fall in the second period. Tolefree hit three from behind the line, Monk had two and Bailey Zimmerman hit her own 3-pointer. The six 3-pointers were nearly double the 3.6 per game allowed by the Wildcats going into the game.

The Razorbacks took a 42-39 lead into the halftime break and added four more 3-pointers in the second half. A 3-point basket at the buzzer on a second-chance opportunity looked to give the home team a boost at the end of the third quarter.

Arkansas is off until 2 p.m. on Sunday when the Razorbacks are scheduled to host Prairie View A&M (3-3).
