A Camden man sought on felony warrants out of Union County was arrested Thursday after allegedly fleeing from Hot Springs police and resisting arrest.

Keith Dennis, 51, was taken into custody shortly before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Barker Street and Central Avenue on the Union County warrants and a misdemeanor third-degree domestic battery out of Hot Springs and was cited for fleeing on foot and refusal to submit to arrest.

He was being held on zero bond with a parole hold and a hold out of Union County and appeared Friday in Garland County District Court for an arraignment on the local charges.

According to reports, officers made a felony traffic stop on a Nissan Altima in the 1500 block of Central Avenue after observing Dennis in the back seat having been advised by Union County detectives he was in the vehicle.

Dennis was ordered out of the vehicle, but allegedly refused to comply despite repeated commands to get on the ground or to turn and face away from the officers and back toward them. He allegedly attempted to flee north on the sidewalk but was apprehended at Barker and Central.

According to the probable cause affidavit for the local battery charge, on July 18, 2017, shortly after 9 p.m., Hot Springs police Detective Mark Fallis was working at Oaklawn Racing & Gaming, 2705 Central Ave., when a woman, 58, of Camden, told him she had been attacked by a known suspect, identified as Dennis, inside the game room.

She said she and Dennis had been in a relationship for the past 11 years, but had broken it off seven months earlier. She said Dennis had continued to harass her and "bother her." She said she was playing one of the slot machines when Dennis approached her and threatened her about being at Oaklawn.

She said she stood up and Dennis poked her in the left eye. He then threatened her, she said, saying, "I bet you won't make it out of this game room tonight. I'll be back," and then he left.

Fallis states he observed surveillance footage from the game room and saw Dennis walk up behind the woman and it appeared there were words exchanged for a moment as she sat at one of the slot machines. She stood up at one point and Dennis could be seen poking her in the eye, causing her to fall back into her seat.

Fallis noted the woman had slight swelling to her left eye and the eyeball was "completely red." A warrant for the arrest of Dennis was later issued.
