A Hot Springs man was arrested Monday after allegedly hitting his wife and attempting to remove her wedding ring last week.

Moses Lamar Stevenson, 31, who lists a Dexter Street address, was taken into custody around 6 p.m. and charged with third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail. He remained in custody Tuesday in lieu of $1,000 bond and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Feb. 6, Hot Springs police Officer Thomas Plummer made contact with Stevenson's wife at the intersection of Clyde and Burroughs streets in response to a report about being attacked by her husband.

She reportedly claimed her husband was driving her grandmother's car at the intersection of West Grand Avenue and Central Avenue when he allegedly struck her in the face while she sat in the passenger seat.

She said he then attempted to remove her wedding ring; Plummer reportedly observed purple discoloration on her left ring finger and a small cut on her upper lip. A warrant for Stevenson's arrest was later issued.
