Paying more for less

Dear editor:

First the tax scam added $1.5 trillion to the national debt to ensure the wealthy got their due, now it's a "budget" that makes up for the revenue shortfall created by the tax scam by taking money away from our earned benefits, like Social Security and Medicare.

The Pentagon will get more while the rest of us get less and will in the coming years be paying more for less and less. It (budget) has a proposal to cut $1.3 trillion to Medicaid, $554 billion to Medicare and $10 billion to Social Security while attempting, once again, to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

So massive attacks again on any and all health care despite knowing that the public strongly opposes such actions. Seems all the promises this president made while campaigning and which many still believe he will deliver on, were false. I highly doubt anyone will see anything that was promised, not even his budget busting wall that is a huge contributor to our debt, a money waster and solves nothing.

Even before the tax bill was passed, Speaker Ryan was talking about the debt (his Party was creating) and about addressing "entitlements" which he alleges is a principal driver of debt. Please keep in mind that when a Republican talks about "entitlements," they are talking about your Social Security, your Medicare or your Medicaid, or any health care. They are not speaking just of "welfare" for the poor, which costs most taxpayers far less than they're led to believe, especially when compared to the "subsidies," aka welfare, for corporations that cost us all far more than it does to assist the poor, homeless and hungry in this country. Let's remind them that we were promised the tax cut would "pay for itself."
