A Bearden man was sentenced to two years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to his fourth driving while intoxicated offense and making threats against a Garland County sheriff's deputy in 2016.

Reggie Delronald Craig, 45, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of DWI 4 and was sentenced to six years in prison, with four years suspended, and a misdemeanor count of second-degree terroristic threatening and was sentenced to one year in jail, suspended, and fined a total of $2,000 and ordered to pay $570 in court costs.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Nov. 24, 2016, Garland County sheriff's Deputy Roy Elliott was working at Oaklawn Racing and Gaming, 2705 Central Ave., when he saw a man, later identified as Craig, beginning to leave the facility and noted he had bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet.

He asked Craig if he had drank any alcohol and Craig told him he had "one drink." Oaklawn staff were already getting a taxi for his Craig's friend standing with him and Elliott told Craig he should also take a taxi home.

Craig refused and walked out the door. Elliott alerted the security video staff to watch and make sure Craig did not get into a vehicle and they advised the deputy Craig got into a green Dodge Ram pickup and was driving out of the lot.

Elliott made a traffic stop on the pickup and Hot Springs Police Officer Zachary Brown arrived to assist. Brown administered three field sobriety tests to Craig and he failed all three. Brown then administered a breathalyzer which showed Craig's blood alcohol level was 0.181 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

Elliott took Craig into custody and transported him to the detention center with Brown following. During the booking process, Craig became "extremely disorderly" and called Elliott racial slurs and made threats to "smash" Elliott while also yelling obscenities to the detention center staff.

It was determined Craig was previously convicted of DWI on Dec. 26, 2013, and Nov. 18, 2014, both in Garland County, and on Sept. 24, 2016, in Hot Spring County. He was initially held on zero bond, but his bond was later set at $10,000 and he was released on Feb. 2, 2017.
