Hot Springs Concert Band will present its annual Band Blast! at 3 p.m. March 4 in the Jessieville Performing Arts Center.

The concert band will be joined by its affiliate, New Horizons Band. The concert is sponsored by Visit Hot Springs. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.

New Horizons, under the baton of conductor Bill Crook, will open with a lively sea chant that includes "What Do You Do with a Drunken Sailor?" by Clarinet Marmalade, which was made famous by such performers as Jelly Roll Morton and the Red Hot Peppers. New Horizons will finish with their signature piece, "Sock Hop Tonight!" which includes "At the Hop," "Venus," Love Me Tender" and "Rock Around the Clock."

The Hot Springs Concert Band, under the direction of Craig Hamilton, will open with "Panther Fire," a contemporary piece that depicts the wildfires of the Panther Creek area of California in which a senior firefighter lost his life.

In a lighter vein, the band presents music from the Beach Boys, including "Surfer Girl" and "Good Vibrations."

A salute to Tennessee highlights "Tennessee Waltz" and Hank Williams' "Your Cheatin' Heart," and "Chatanooga Choo Choo" and "Wabash Cannonball."

"Crooner's Serenade" is a mix of "Moondance," "I've Got You Under My Skin" and "Save the Last Dance for Me."

The band will perform well known marches including the obligatory Sousa march. Their patriotic number will be "Echoes from the Battlefield: Great Songs from World War I." "Echoes" presents such beloved numbers as "Over There," "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" and "Keep the Home Fires Burning (Till the Boys Come Home)."

Tickets are $10 for adults; students ages 18 and younger will be admitted for free. Tickets are available from any band member, at Crook's Music Service in Hot Springs, at the door or by calling 501-922-9155.
