Hands-on training

Dear editor:

National Park College has a program sponsored the U.S. Labor Department that is two enrollment students short of being able to start a fast-track program for Computer Numeric Controller (CNC) Machining Technology. This is a hands-on training in Machining Fundamentals, CNC Milling: Setup and Operation, CNC Programing and CNC Lathe. The vast majority of the funding is paid for by the U.S. Labor Department with the classes costing a token $250 registration fee. The classes are conducted in eight sessions, 40 hours each in an off campus, well-equipped shop setting on west Albert Pike.

CNC is in a labor shortage and will be in high demand for high-paying, indoor work for years to come.

If you are a recent high school graduate and can't find a decent paying job or are a parent or grandparent of one, this is your chance to sponsor and give a leg up for them. It can also be a chance for companies with these needs for tax-free write off sponsorships for suitable employees.

This is a very worthwhile community information subject that should be conveyed in the interest of community betterment and providing needed public information that many may not be aware of.
