Several emergency agencies spent much of the day Monday attempting to remove a pickup truck that was partially submerged in Gulpha Creek near Essex Park Golf Course.

At around 8 a.m. Monday, Hot Springs police officers responded to a section of Gulpha Creek near Lake Catherine after an abandoned Dodge pickup truck was discovered partially submerged in the middle of the creek.

The Hot Springs Fire Department's dive team responded to the scene to assist in removing the truck, but determined it would need to be moved further down the creek in order to limit damage to the vehicle and the surrounding area. A cable was attached to the truck in the creek and it was reportedly "walked" to an area where it could be removed.

Hot Springs police Officer 1st Class Joey Williams said the truck's owner was aware of the situation, but had not reported the vehicle stolen as of Monday afternoon.

Hot Springs police filed an incident report for locating the truck since it did not appear to have damage from any sort of collision, Williams said.

The truck was removed from the water shortly before 2 p.m., nearly six hours after it was discovered.
