Quick start photography class to start Jan. 20

Want to take better pictures? The Photo Finishers will present a photography "Quick Start Class" on Jan. 20.

Waco Hill, local owner of The Photo Finishers at 1819 Albert Pike, Suite F, for more than 21 years, announces the date for the first Photomakers Quick Start Class of 2018. This one-day class will cover all the basic information to get the user up to speed on all the functions of their camera, as well as explain to them the fundamentals of creating an award-winning photograph.

Hill, a professional in the photography industry for over 29 years, will cover composition, color harmony, depth of field, focus while "giving you the secrets to creating a photograph with your camera that you will be proud to share with your friends and family." Examples will be shown to demonstrate techniques as well as results, and there will be ample time for questions and answers.

Hill says in the press release, "Don't be intimidated by the idea that you are not really comfortable with your camera (film or digital), or that you only have a small point and shoot and no fancy lenses. The Photo Finishers Quick Start Class is specifically designed to cover all the bases. We start with the very basics, like what is the difference between the symbols on the camera, and when should you use one verses the other, like 'green box' or the 'p' symbol. We not only talk about what they mean, but what do they do, and when it is best to use one or the other. When should you use your flash, what kind of accessories are actually worth having; things like that."

Hill continued, "On Jan. 20, we are providing a pizza lunch for attendees at around noon, and I am going to teach a bonus session about digital files, how to archive and keep up with all the photographs you have taken at 12:30 and much more. I am finding that many of our clients are not able to keep up with the photographs on their cards or on their computer, so in the bonus session (included at no charge for those who wish to stay), I am going to talk about files, file handling and organization. In fact, I am going to give all attendees a guide and done for you template that will make organizing super easy for anyone."

The Photo Makers Quick Start Class runs from 10 a.m. to noon at The Photo Finishers on Albert Pike. Seating is reserved only (no walk ins), and seating is strictly limited to five attendees. Every attendee receives a workbook, pen and coupon book with more than $200 worth of freebies and discounts, more than three times the investment for attending.
