Tri-Lakes Coin Club hosts 52nd coin show

The Tri-Lakes Coin Club is a local nonprofit organization that was established in Hot Springs more than 50 years ago. The club is involved in a variety of community efforts, which includes donating $1,000 in coin literature to the Garland County Library, a cargo trailer to local Boy Scouts, and nearly 200 teddy bears to be given to children in crisis by county and city law enforcement, EMT and paramedics, and the fire department.

"Our members enjoy the camaraderie and discussion in a variety of interests in coins," states the press release. The mission is to inform, educate and participate in community service.

The club meets at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at Garland County Library, and meetings typically last about 45 minutes to an hour. The meetings include a member presentation, time to show and discuss coins, and planning for the annual coin show in Hot Spring, which is hosted by the club.

The Tri-Lakes Coin Club Show is the largest in the state with more than $11,000,000 in aggregate. Participants will see many coins that are not even in circulation, such as the 2 cent, 3 cent and even 20 cent coins circa the Civil War era. Major mint errors, such as 1955-D double die and three-legged Buffalo Nickel, will be on display and for sale. "If you have coins of your own, there is a wealth of knowledge and dealers ready to purchase." The show includes dealers in coins, paper money, stamps and sports cards.

This year will be the club's 52nd consecutive year to host the event in Hot Springs. The show will be held Jan. 12-14 at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

Hours will be 1-6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. There will be more than 50 dealers and more than 90 tables from eight states. Open to the public with free admission, parking and hourly door prizes.
