UALR still perfect in Sun Belt, downs Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. -- The University of Arkansas at Little Rock's women dominated Georgia Southern, 64-34, at Hanner Fieldhous to remain undefeated in the Sun Belt Conference.

Ronjanae DeGray paced the Trojans (7-8, 4-0) for her third consecutive game as she put up 16 points with a game-high eight rebounds. Tori Lasker added 13 points with three boards and two assists, finishing 3-for-4 from distance, and Terrion Moore had a career-high 10 points with four rebounds. UALR concluded the game with 51.3 percent (20-f0r-39) from the field, 7-for-12 (58.3 percent) from distance and 17-for-18 from the free throw line.

Rhein Beamon led the Eagles (3-12, 0-4) with six points while Sarah Moore led the team with seven rebounds. Georgia Southern's 22.9 field-goal percentage (11-for-48) was the lowest by a Little Rock opponent this season.

With a shooting percentage of 22.2 percent in the first quarter, the Trojans held on to a five-point lead. With a 3-3 tie, Little Rock went on an 8-0 run before the Eagles' Tatum Barber hit a trey with 21 seconds remaining cut UALR's lead to five.

The Trojans hit 50 percent (5-of-10) in the second period while holding the Eagles to 18.2 percent to hold a 10-point lead at the break. Both teams hit a perfect 5-for-5 at the line in the quarter. Leading 18-14, Little Rock went on a 7-0 run to stretch its lead to 12 points.

Little Rock's lead ballooned to 17 in the third frame as it outscored Georgia Southern, 15-8. The Trojans hit 6 of 9 in the period while allowing 4-for-12 for Georgia Southern. Monique Townson led the quarter with six points, hitting a trey, a layup and one at the line.

The Trojans turned up the heat in the final period, outscoring the Eagles 23-10. With 44 seconds remaining, the Trojans took its largest lead of the game as Kira Shepard sank her second 3-pointer of the period to put Little Rock up by 33 points. The final nine points of the game for Little Rock came on distance shots by Shepard and Lasker. Little Rock had three runs of at least six points in the final 10 minutes.

Raeyana DeGray led the game with a career-high four assists as she came up with five rebounds and two points. Keys ended the game with nine points, two rebounds and a block. Anna Hurlburt tied her career high for blocks with four as she earned seven boards, three assists, two points and a steal. Townson tallied six points with three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Shepard finished with six points and an assist in four minutes of action.

Little Rock will return to action on Thursday as it hosts preseason-favorite UT Arlington at the Jack Stephens Center at 5 p.m.
