Car strikes pedestrian in Walmart parking lot

A Hot Springs woman was reportedly struck by a car Sunday evening in the parking lot of Walmart, but was not seriously injured.

According to a Hot Springs police crash report, shortly after 7 p.m., Christine Blackman, 42, was in the marked pedestrian crosswalk in front of the store, located at 1601 Albert Pike, when she was hit by a 2012 Ford Focus driven by Robert Carson Christopher, 65, of Sheridan.

Christopher was reportedly driving south in the lot and struck Blackman while making a left-hand turn. He told police he was traveling about 5 mph at the time and failed to see the victim because he was trying to turn on his windshield wipers.

Blackman reportedly sustained some minor injuries, but was not transported to a hospital. Christopher was cited for careless and prohibited driving.
