Mardi Gras Costume Ball & Contest to feature Delta Brass Express

Delta Brass Express is the featured band for dancing at this year's Mardi Gras Costume Ball & Contest, set for 6-11:30 p.m. Feb. 10 in the The Hotel Hot Springs & Spa Ballroom.

Delta Brass Express combines blues and classic rock with a touch of jazz and Cajun music. Made up of eight exemplary musicians from throughout Arkansas, Delta Brass features Ron Hall on keyboard and vocals, Bill Hickman on bass guitar, Jerry McCoy on lead guitar and back up vocals, founder Mike Bryant on trombone, Gary Meggs on saxophone, Leslie Oden on vocals, Jack Pritchett on drums and David Laubach on trumpet.

The Mardi Gras Costume Ball & Contest is the only fundraiser produced annually by the Hot Springs Jazz Society. Proceeds support scholarships for high school student musicians to attend the UAM Summer Jazz Camp and free and educational concerts such as the America's Art Form winter series at the Garland County Library and the annual JazzFest's outdoor concert Jazz in the Streets.

A luxurious silent auction will be presented with Steven Kirsch personally picking out a singularly extraordinary piece of fine jewelry to raffle. The royal court includes Queen and King Sunny Evans and Richard Stevens with their Duke and Duchess, Don and Dana Gooch. The event will feature juggling, belly dancing and elaborate costumes to rival any Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Attendees can spend the evening dancing on the largest dance floor in Hot Springs.

Tickets are available online at http://www.HSJazzSociety.org or can be purchased by calling 501-627-2425 or emailing [email protected]. Tickets are $60 per person or tables for parties of 10 with preferred seating are $600.
