Wolves clip Cabot, Camden Fairview

CAMDEN -- The Lake Hamilton Lady Wolves snapped a four-game losing streak with a 50-28 win at Camden Fairview Friday night.

The Lady Wolves (8-10, 1-2) rode their defense to an early 10-3 lead in the first quarter before erupting for 22 points in the second quarter, taking a 32-12 advantage into halftime.

Lake Hamilton outscored the Lady Cardinals 15-8 in the third quarter before Fairview bounced back with an 8-3 run in the last eight minutes to set the final margin.

Senior Logan Keener paced the Lady Wolves with 16 points, while senior Hannah Walker added nine points and junior Jenny Peake chipped in with eight points and a team-high nine assists.

Lake Hamilton travels to Trojan Fieldhouse Tuesday night to face Hot Springs (15-3, 5-0). The Lady Trojans defeated the Lady Wolves 50-39 in the Kameron Hale Invitational championship Dec. 30 at Wolf Arena.

Junior girls

Clinging to a slim 17-15 lead, the junior Lady Wolves (16-1, 9-1) outscored Cabot South 12-0 in the fourth quarter of a 29-15 win Thursday night at Wolf Arena.

"We played extremely disciplined man defense in the last quarter," Lake Hamilton coach Brandi Higginbotham said. "The girls really stepped up their game when it could've gone either way. We had a tough time scoring early but really showed some toughness as the game progressed."

Aspen Thornton led the way with 12 points for Lake Hamilton, while Ginny Higginbotham added nine points. Aryn Hughes and Tia Mullinex each scored four points for the junior Lady Wolves.

Cabot South clipped Lake Hamilton's eighth-grade girls team 33-32 earlier in the day. Annabelle Coppedge and Hayleigh Wyrick each scored 11 points for the Lady Wolves, and Audri Winfree added four points.

Senior boys

Lake Hamilton's senior boys (16-3, 6-1) set the tone for the rest of the game with an 18-3 run in the first quarter Friday night, coasting to a 61-44 win at Camden Fairview.

Junior guard Lane Kersey finished with a game-high 21 points and five rebounds, while junior forward Kanaan Williams added 17 points with six boards.

Junior guard Mondo Watkins stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Wolves.

Lake Hamilton travels to crosstown rival Hot Springs (12-9, 7-0) Tuesday night in a battle for conference supremacy at Trojan Fieldhouse.
