A Hot Springs man was arrested Thursday on multiple felony warrants after allegedly altering his pay checks last year at the local restaurant where he worked.

Dejuan Deondre Boling, 23, who lists a Garden Street address, was charged with 14 counts of second-degree forgery, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and one count of theft of property over $1,000, punishable by up to six years.

He remained in custody Thursday in lieu of bonds totaling $51,500 and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Dec. 8, 2017, the owner of Porterhouse Restaurant, 707 Central Ave., filed a complaint with Hot Springs police alleging one of her employees, identified as Boling, had been altering payroll checks from Aug. 30 until Nov. 28 last year.

She stated she had gone to her bank where Boling had allegedly been cashing the checks. Bank employees told her Boling was allegedly depositing the checks through an ATM.

The first check he allegedly altered on Aug. 30 was $100 more than authorized, and he gradually increased the unauthorized amount. The final check, altered on Nov. 28, was $600 more than authorized.

Boling allegedly forged a total of 14 checks. The original checks totaled $2,755.68, and the altered checks totaled $6,355.68, a difference of $3,600. Warrants were later issued for his arrest.
