Fireworks stand robbed at gunpoint; suspects sought

The operator of a fireworks stand in Hot Springs was reportedly robbed at gunpoint early Thursday by three unidentified suspects who are still being sought.

An employee of Spa Fireworks, 36, told Garland County sheriff's deputies he was working at the stand, located at 3697 Malvern Road, near its intersection with Stanage Terrace, shortly before 12:30 a.m. when three black males came into the business to "look around."

He said they picked up numerous fireworks, valued at approximately $350, and brought them up to the cash register.

At that point, one of the males pulled out a silver handgun and asked the employee for all the money. The employee was unable to open the cash register, and the three males fled after taking the victim's cellphone and wallet.

He noted they left in a white, older model, "beat up," Ford Crown Victoria headed back toward Hot Springs on Malvern Road. The employee was not injured in the incident, and no further descriptions of the suspects were given in the report.

Anyone with information about the robbery or possible suspects should contact sheriff's investigators at 622-3690.
