HS Daylily Society to meet Saturday

Hot Springs Daylily Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Christian Life Center of First United Methodist Church, 218 Pratt St. The program will be on the clubs last two tours, with President Lin Johnson leading the discussions. Guests are welcome.

HSU alumni to address Lunch Bunch

Henderson Alumni Lunch Bunch will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday at West Shores Retirement Community, 2601 Albert Pike. The Rev. Fred Hunter will be the speaker. Hunter is a 1973 graduate of Henderson State University. He received his degree in theology from Southern Methodist University and retired as a United Methodist Minister after 50 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy chaplain and retired at the rank of commander.

He retired as volunteer chaplain of the Arkansas State Police. Hunter has authored and performs in his four original one-man productions. He currently sings in a gospel trio, The Arkansans, and fills in for pastors.

The original poem he wrote, "The Eagle Wept," was published in World Treasury of Golden Poems 1990 and he received a personal letter from President Ronald Reagan regarding the poem, which was about the Space Challenger disaster.
