HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Voices Rising presented its summer concert, "When I Sing," to a packed house of 400 people on July 8 at Balboa Baptist Church Outreach Center.

The 12-member group performed 15 numbers in a variety of genres featuring solos by Steve Matthews, Ruth'e Korelitz, Jill Fitzgerald, Marc Bremer and Alice Canham. Voices Rising is under the direction of Fran Stroud and Marc Bremer. Also performing were Ruth Clemens, pianist, and Kathy Ogilvie, violinist.

The Hot Springs Village singing group performs solely by memory and always includes an element of surprise that catches the audience off guard. The performance featured dance moves from 9-year-old Callie Pettypool and the Spa City Senior Tappers who were camouflaged in the audience and emerged as Latin dancers during the Voices Rising rendition of "I Could Have Danced All Night."

Voices Rising's next performance will be its Christmas concert on Nov. 25.

Call Janis Bremer at 501-922-7757 for sponsorship and booking information, or call Pattie Genovese at 501-622-3131 or email [email protected] to reserve the group for showcases, events and parties.
