CONWAY -- The Lake Hamilton Optimist Club's 12-year-old all-star team recently finished its season as the state runner-up in the 2018 Arkansas United States Specialty Sports Association All-Star State Championship tournament.
Lake Hamilton finished the tournament with a 4-2 record. The team was seeded seventh out of 17 teams after winning the first game, 11-0, against Vilonia before falling, 11-1, to Monticello.
The next three results all went in favor of Lake Hamilton, 10-0, against Fayetteville; 11-2, against Warren; and, 11-1, against Greenbrier. Monticello won again, 8-0, in the final.
Lake Hamilton combined for a .444 team batting average, .520 on base percentage and two home runs, producing a total of 44 runs. The team's pitchers compiled three complete games, twice allowed only one hit, threw two shutouts and had 30 strikeouts.
Brent Davis, Landon Godwin, Riley Poole and Gavin Thomason were named to the All-Tournament Team. They are eligibile to play in the All-State Showcase in Conway on July 28.
Other members of the team include Wentz Akard, James Ballard, Calek Kersey, Talan Reid, Cody Riddell and Wyatt Wolf.
The team is coached by Jeremy Thomason. He is assisted by Chris Riddell and Kevin Wolf.
