The Hot Springs Concert Band will present a free concert, "On Broadway!", at 6:30 p.m. July 23 in Whittington Park.

The concert is sponsored by the Hot Springs/Hot Springs Village Symphony Guild and is part of the concert band's "Taking the Music to the People" series.

Every song performed during the concert is from a Broadway show. The band will perform a medley, "Bright Lights on Broadway," which will include two tunes associated with the late Ethel Merman, Irving Berlin's 1954 hit, "There's No Business Like Show Business," and "Everything's Coming up Roses" from the 1959 musical, "Gypsy."

Other songs include "Seventy-Six Trombones" from "The Music Man" and "Hey, Look Me Over," from Lucille Ball's Broadway production, "Wildcat."

An entire medley is dedicated to Cole Porter's canon, presenting snippets of nine songs in six-and-a-half minutes, including "Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love)" from his first Broadway success, "Paris."

From Porter's 1932 musical, "Gay Divorcee," is the beloved "Night and Day," Fred Astaire's last Broadway show.

"Anything Goes" from Porter's 1934 eponymous musical pokes fun at the Depression-era high-society scandals.

Attendees may bring lawn chairs for seating, coolers with cold drinks and sandwiches, and bug spray.
