Water questions

Dear editor:

I am a longtime retiree of this area. We looked for a location with a mild climate, good hospital, library and fishing! Now my thinking is our list should have been longer. I would not have questioned the water. We are almost on the banks of three lakes. Had never heard of a "hamburger etc. tax," which was explained as an easy, sneaky way to profit from visitors and vacationers ... and retirees, humph!

I have gotten off course here; I want to talk about water today. I have read about the search for more water. Did think DeGray was a little far. I am sure Royal is farther, so what? I'll tell you what! I learned that we have been furnishing water to Royal for 18 years, with 10 more to go. How can that be? Why should that be? Were we obligated to them? Did we owe them? Maybe there was a reason I shouldn't question.

Mr. Burrough is smarting under the scrutiny of the Water Provider Task Force. Hot Springs is a good example of very questionable use of water. Oh well, what will be, will be.

Speaking of "well," I am thankful we have one, I'll just shut up and go water my flowers.

Dang Yankee,
