Four students named Schedler Honors Scholars

CONWAY -- Four area students have been selected in a group of 75 incoming first-year students by the University of Central Arkansas Norbert O. Schedler Honors College as its newest class of honors scholars.

Chloe Davis, of Jessieville, and Avery Heering, Gannell Jones and Cody Tigue, all of Hot Springs, were selected for this honor, according to a news release.

The entering class of 2018 has an average high school GPA above 4.0 and an average ACT score of 30. The class also includes four out-of-state students.

This year's applicant pool was one of the largest in the 36-year history of the Schedler Honors College with 835 applicants, 176 of whom underwent full-day interviews on the UCA campus.

Acceptance into the Schedler Honors College includes access to UCA's top scholarship, a living-learning community in Jefferson W. Farris Honors Hall and ample opportunities for service-learning, project-based education, collaborative work, undergraduate research, travel abroad opportunities and internship support, the release said.
