REGARD meets tonight at St. Luke's

The next REGARD meeting will be from 5-6 p.m. today in St. Luke's Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall, 128 Spring St. The program will be led by Darla Thurber, chief diversity officer at National Park College. Earlier this month, The Sentinel-Record published an article by Beth Reed, education reporter: "NPC named one of 18 'most promising.'" The story reported that "National Park College was recently recognized as one of 18 Most Promising Places to Work In Community Colleges."

The award is presented annually to community colleges and technical colleges "who show a commitment to diversity through best-in-class student and staff recruitment and retention practices, inclusive learning and working environments, and meaningful community service and engagement opportunities." NPC was one of eight applicants that had a perfect score.

Thurber will share what they are doing at National Park College to earn this award. Below is more about Darla.

REGARD is an organization with the mission: To build connections and cooperation; promote understanding, appreciation, respect and fellowship; and celebrate the richly diverse populations in Hot Springs and Garland County.

Meetings are held on the third Tuesday monthly and are open to all persons. Guests are welcome. No reservation is required.
