Symphony Guild accepts new members

The Hot Springs/Hot Springs Village Symphony Guild is now accepting new members to join in its mission to foster fine musical experiences in the greater Hot Springs area by presenting concerts to the community or supporting music education for area youths.

The guild invests over $70,000 annually in music education programs for children and is committed to financially supporting the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra by contributing an annual cash donation and hosting local ASO performances, a news release said. Programs include its children's concert, featuring the ASO; Orchestra & You, a program introducing second and third graders to musical instruments; funding mini grants for music equipment in area schools; scholarships for summer music camps; and scholarships for area students pursuing degrees in music or music education.

"The loyal support over the more than 30 years of the Hot Springs/Hot Springs Village Symphony Guild by our members is deeply appreciated. You make a difference for all we do," Suzanne Babbie, president of the guild, said in the release.

The guild also offers entertainment programs throughout the year. On Oct. 1, it will present the Diamonds' Broadway Jukebox at the Woodlands Auditorium in Hot Springs Village, and its annual Christmas show, "Christmas in the Village," on Dec. 2.

Annual membership is $20 per person with $10 of each membership directed toward the guild's educational programs.
