Bottles test negative for presence of PCP

Hot Springs police say bottles of water purchased locally last month are not tainted with PCP, as indicated last month by an "over the counter" test kit by a local resident who believed they had been tampered with.

"We have received the report back from the Arkansas Crime Lab on the bottled water. The results are negative for any PCP," the police department said in a post Thursday on its Facebook page.

Police have not released the name of the retailer, its location, or the brand of water.

Officers responded to a local residence in late February in reference to the potential tampering of a case of water bottles. Officers noted two bottles appeared to have been tampered with.

The person who reported the alleged tampering told police that he had tested the water with an "over the counter" drug test kit, and it showed a "presumptive positive" result for PCP, police said in an earlier news release.

The department tested the water with a "law enforcement recognized" test kit that is PCP specific, and each of the bottles were tested with a negative result, it said.
