A Hot Springs man was arrested by Garland County sheriff's deputies late Wednesday after he allegedly attacked the mother of his child.

Montez Saquan Dixon, 23, of 200 Lakeland Drive, was taken into custody at his apartment shortly after 11:30 p.m. and charged with felony second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and misdemeanor third-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to one year in jail.

Dixon remained in custody Thursday on zero bond and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Deputy Clayton Green responded to a reported disturbance at a residence in the 200 block of Cindy Street. Upon arrival, he met with a woman, 18, identified as the mother of Dixon's daughter, who reportedly said Dixon came into her house uninvited.

She said he grabbed her by the shirt, causing it to rip, while she was holding her 2-month-old daughter. She said Dixon grabbed the baby and handed it to another woman, 35, at the residence. The second woman told Green she saw Dixon attack the victim and she was getting the baby away from him.

The mother said Dixon grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the ground. Green reportedly observed a visible injury to her chest and noticed redness just below her neck. Green noticed a small red mark on the left side of the child's cheek. A third female, 17, at the residence also reportedly witnessed the attack.

The mother stated that Dixon had also taken her car keys and her cellphone and left in her blue 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. She said she was tracking him through the "Find My iPhone" application which displayed the phone was currently at his apartment address.

Deputy Stacy Morgan arrived at Dixon's apartment on Lakeland and made contact with another male who answered the door and stated Dixon was not there. Morgan was given permission to enter and reportedly located Dixon hiding in the back of a closet in the rear bedroom.

Morgan took him into custody at this time and he reportedly said he did not hit his child's mother and "only ripped her shirt since it was his."

Dixon said the phone, located in the closet where he was hiding, was under contract in his name, but he was unable to prove his statement at the time. He said he was with the victim earlier and they drove to her residence on Cindy Street. He said he was later ready to leave, but she was not so he left in the Trailblazer.
