HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Balboa Baptist Church, 415 Ponce de Leon Drive, will present The Arkansas Master Singers in concert at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The group is composed of ministers of music/worship leaders, directors, accompanists, choir leaders, pastors, staff members and staff spouses from Arkansas Baptist churches from across the state. These men and women find incredible joy in singing and worshipping together in sharing fellowship and praying and supporting each other while they serve weekly in their respective churches, a news release said.

The men's chorus began in 1961 as the Arkansas Singing Men. The women's chorus was organized as the Arkansas Singing Women in 1973, and the combined chorus was formed soon after that. The group adopted the name Master Singers in the early 1990s. The Master Singers are a cooperative program ministry of the Arkansas Baptist Convention.

Annual venues include state convention meetings and concerts of worship in local churches and other venues such as prisons. The music of the Master Singers has been heard in and shared the message of Jesus Christ in Guatemala, Brazil, Germany, Russia, and Ukraine in 2014.

Another Ukraine mission is slated for April 16 for 10 days. Balboa's own minister of music, Jim Raney, and Balboa choir members, Wayne and Nancy Trull, are slated to join the singers on this trip.

The concert is free and open to the public.
