HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- A United Methodist Women fundraiser garage and bake sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Christ of the Hills UMC, 700 Balearic Road.
This sale has been the primary fundraiser for the group since the early 1990s. A long-serving chairwoman of the event, Nancy Blevins, wears the crown as the "queen of the sale." She continues to work each year, as have many members of the church.
Every year this sale has grown, with the addition of an antique/collectibles area, gently used jewelry area, and the regifting section where members donate "gifts" not previously used. Proceeds have risen from $700 the first years, to more than $17,000 last year. All the net proceeds benefit local charities.
Church members are working today and Friday, accepting donations and organizing/cleaning/sorting items for sale.
