HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- The Hot Springs Concert Band and the Kiwanis Club of Greater Hot Springs Village will present their Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in Woodlands Auditorium, Hot Springs Village.

The concert is a fundraiser for the work the club does promoting programs for area youths.

The concert will highlight Carl Maria von Weber's Concertino performed by the band's new principal clarinetist, Hot Springs Village resident Kathleen Joyner.

Joyner, who holds a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music from the University of Memphis, served as full-time clarinetist with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. She has also played with the Texas Wind Symphony, the Dallas Wind Symphony, and the Memphis Wind Symphony. She taught clarinet at Rhodes College and the University of Memphis, a news release said.

The remainder of the concert will include holiday tunes such as "Christmas Winds Overture," which is a medley of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," "While by My Sheep (The Echo Carol)," "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," "Patapan," "Still, Still, Still," and "Angels We Have Heard on High."

"In the Christmas Mood" is a medley that contains "A Holly Jolly Christmas," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Let it Snow!", "Frosty the Snowman," and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."

Tickets are $12 and are available from any band member, any member of Kiwanis Club of Greater Hot Springs Village, at http://www.hsvpoa.org/event-tickets/ or at the Ponce de Leon box office on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
