Earth Angel

In addition to the city's free Earth Angel curbside recycling collection service, the city also offers a convenient 24/7 recycling drop-off center, located at the corner of Valley and Runyon streets. It accepts newspaper, corrugated cardboard, phone books, aluminum cans, plastics (grades one and two), glass (jars and bottles), and sorted office paper (white office paper, colored paper, junk mail, magazines, catalogs and the like). To participate in the Earth Angel Recycling Program, call 321-6911 to get set up.

Last week, the Earth Angels of Hot Springs recycled:

• 86 pounds -- Aluminum cans.

• 3,512 pounds -- Newspaper.

• 515 pounds -- Corrugated cardboard.

• 394 pounds -- Plastic No. 1 and No. 2.

• 35,300 pounds -- Yard Waste and C.A.P.S.

• 56,320 pounds -- Commercial cardboard.

A total of 48.06 tons of recyclable materials were kept out of the landfill.

• Monday -- Jaycee Park/ Oaklawn-Henderson.

• Tuesday -- Richard/Airport-Family Park.

• Wednesday -- Grove/Files Road-Higdon Ferry.

• Thursday -- McCauley-Greenwood.

• Friday -- Hobson-Plain.
