Chanteline goes for another stakes victory

Ten Broeck Farm, Inc.'s Chanteline, a three-time winner at Oaklawn Park, is among 16 older fillies and mares entered in today's Grade 3 $100,000 Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky.

Probable post time for the 5 1/2-furlong turf event, which goes as race 9, is 4:30 p.m.

Chanteline won allowance races in 2016 and 2017 at Oaklawn and the $125,000 Spring Fever Stakes on March 3 for perennial Oaklawn champions Ricardo Santana Jr., jockey, and Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen. Spring Fever favorite Golden Mischief ran ninth in her 4-year-old debut, but she has returned to win three consecutive stakes races, including the Grade 2 $250,000 Thoroughbred Club of America Saturday at Keeneland.

Chanteline (5-1 on the morning line) is scheduled to break from post 9 under Santana and carry 120 pounds. She is seeking her fourth victory this year. She set an about 5-furlong course record (:56.11) in a June 18 allowance race at Parx and captured the $100,000 Smart N Fancy Stakes on Aug. 26 in her last start at Saratoga Race Course in New York.

Also entered in the Buffalo Trace Franklin County are 2017 Oaklawn maiden special weights winner Excessivespending and 2018 Smart N Fancy runner-up Girls Know Best, another 2017 Oaklawn winner.

Girls Know Best and Excessivespending are 6-1 and 30-1, respectively, on the morning line.

Curlin's Honor, who suffered his first loss in the Grade 2 $900,000 Rebel Stakes for 3-year-olds on March 17 at Oaklawn, is entered in the Grade 3 $125,000 Ontario Derby Saturday at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto.

Trained by Mark Casse, Curlin's Honor won his first two career starts before finishing 10th in the Rebel, the final major local prep for the Grade 1 $1 million Arkansas Derby. Casse and co-owner John Oxley campaigned champion and 2017 Arkansas Derby winner Classic Empire.

Curlin's Honor (4-1 on the morning line) is scheduled to break from the rail under Irad Ortiz Jr. and carry 117 pounds. The 1 1/8-mile Ontario Derby will be run over a synthetic surface.

Probable post time for the Ontario Derby, which goes as race 3, is 1:14 p.m.

Millionaire Rivers Run Deep, a March 10 allowance winner at Oaklawn, is entered in the $150,000 Best of Ohio Sprint Stakes Saturday at the Jack Thistledown Racino in Ohio. Probable post time for the 6-furlong Best of Ohio, which goes as race 5, is 2:40 p.m.
