Panthers ruin homecoming for Wolves

PEARCY -- Lake Hamilton could not overcome an early Siloam Springs lead as the Panthers ruined homecoming for the Wolves Friday with a 21-14 win at Bank OZK Field at Wolf Stadium.

With just over a minute left in the game, Lake Hamilton (4-3, 1-3 6A-West) got the ball back at its own 47-yard line while trailing by a single touchdown. The Wolves battled, getting the ball down to the Siloam Springs (4-3, 2-2) 44-yard line, but several pass breakups and a false start left Lake Hamilton with 39 yards to go before a pass to Kanaan Williams was knocked down to turn the ball back over to the Panthers, who assumed the victory formation.

Siloam Springs got things going early, pushing Lake Hamilton back on the initial drive before moving the ball 52 yards on a seven-play drive to score the only touchdown of the first half. Kaiden Thrailkill carried the ball 24 yards for the score, and Harrison Losh kicked the point-after attempt to make it 7-0.

The Panthers carried the 7-0 lead into the second half.

The Wolves got things going offensively, moving the ball 59 yards on eight plays late in the first quarter, but the Panther defense stopped the drive.

The Panthers got on the scoreboard to start the second half on a 56-yard pass with 9:35 left in the third quarter to take a 14-0 lead.

Lake Hamilton battled back from a 21-7 deficit late in the fourth quarter.

Dealond Lewis led the Wolves with 12 carries for 126 yards with one touchdown, and Malik Brewer had 21 carries for 53 yards and two catches for 57. Williams led the defense with 14 tackles.

Kaiden Thrailkill had 25 carries for 130 yards for the Panthers. Quarterback Landon Ellis connected on 10 of 19 passes for 166 yards with Primo Agbehi reeling in three catches for 109 yards.

Lake Hamilton is scheduled to host Sheridan on Friday.
