Bauxite 40, Fountain Lake 14

BAUXITE -- The Bauxite Miners continued their undefeated season Friday with a 40-14 home victory against Fountain Lake.

Bauxite (7-0, 4-0 4A-7) will hope to have new momentum in the back-and-forth series. Fountain Lake (3-4, 0-4) may now have to win out to make the playoffs after beginning the season 3-0 in non-conference games.

Fountain Lake won, 33-7, when the two teams met in 1985, but Bauxite won the next six decisions between 1986-2005, outside of a 21-21 tie in 2004. The Cobras had won the last six in the series, including a 28-27 victory in 2017 that effectively kept the Miners out of the playoffs.

Bauxite took control late in the first quarter on Friday with a 62-yard touchdown run by senior Dawson Dabbs. The senior back doubled the lead early in the second quarter on a 10-yard score. His third touchdown of the night, a 32-yard run, gave Bauxite a 21-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

The Miners immediately hit back with a 78-yard kickoff return by senior Elijah Cruz. The extra point gave the hosts a 28-7 lead at halftime.

Fountain Lake finished off a 59-yard drive to start the third quarter with a one-yard touchdown run by senior Colson Simpson. Murphy again converted the extra point for the team's final point of the game.

A three-yard touchdown run by senior quarterback Seth McDowell in the third quarter and a short touchdown pass from McDowell to sophomore Braylon Walker set the final.

The Cobras actually outgained the Miners, 381-338. Lacy was 10-for-19 passing for 150 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Johnson caught five passes for 110 yards and the score.

Senior Andrew Roberson led Fountain Lake with 122 rushing yards on 22 carries. Simpson finished with 42 yards and a score on eight rushing attempts.

Robinson and Nashville were ranked No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, in 4A in the most recent Arkansas Sports Media High School Football Poll.

Fountain Lake will visit Malvern (0-7, 0-4) on Friday before hosting Haskell Harmony Grove (4-3, 2-2) and finishing the regular season at Ashdown (3-4, 1-3) on Nov. 2. Malvern lost, 42-0, on the road Friday at Robinson.

Lakeside 49, Hope 28

HOPE -- Sophomore running back Isaac Echols tallied more than 300 yards rushing Friday as the Lakeside Rams evened its 5A-South conference record with a 49-28 win over the Hope Bobcats at Foy Hammons Stadium.

The Rams (3-4, 2-2) rolled to a 14-0 first quarter advantage, stretching their lead to 28-0 before Hope (1-6, 1-3) managed to get on the scoreboard.

"The kids played well," said Lakeside head coach Jared McBride. "We're still pretty banged up, so we had some new faces out there. They played well from the beginning, and we were able to stay in front of them."

Eayn Shelley and Jesus Damian both grabbed a pair of interceptions to help the Rams keep their lead, and Lakeside also recovered a pair of onside kicks.

"I thought it was a step in the right direction," McBride said. "This was a good way to help us gain a playoff spot. We competed against a Hope team that is much improved and coming off a win. I'm proud of my guys going on the road and getting a victory."

Keelan Fleming, who has been sidelined for the past four weeks, was back in the game, picking up one of the team's touchdowns.

Will Perrigo also scored a touchdown with Echols doing the rest of the scoring for the Rams.
