Civic clubs

South Hot Springs Lions will meet at 5:30 p.m. today for dinner in CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs cafeteria, 1 Mercy Lane. The meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. Visiting Lions are welcome.

Hot Springs National Park Rotary will meet at noon Wednesday at Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa, Central and Fountain streets, for lunch. A meeting will follow at 12:30 p.m. Visiting Rotarians are welcome.

Hot Springs Village Evening Lions Club meets the first and third Thursday of the month in Room 6 at Coronado Center. Social time starts at 5 p.m. with dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by a business meeting with guest speaker. Visitors welcome to learn how they can join in to help others. Discussion will be on what some of the causes of substance abuse are and ways to solve them. SAC is an all-volunteer organization striving to promote humane principles, prevent cruelty and alleviate fear, pain and suffering in animals. It investigates reports of cruelty and neglect in Hot Spring and Garland counties. Donations of kitchen items, home decor, clothing, shoes, bedding, linens, collectibles and furniture in good condition are appreciated. Donations of dog and cat food or pet supplies may be left at the store. All donations are tax deductible. Low-cost spay and neuter vouchers are available to the public. Rimfire matches are held on various Sunday afternoons. Trap and Skeet fields are open at 9 a.m. Saturdays; and 1 p.m. Sundays and Tuesdays. Cowboy Action matches are the first Saturday. This is a nondenominational organization which uses sports analogizes applied to scripture in the Holy Bible. Its mission is "Turning men into winners by passing the ball of integrity to the next generation in the game of life ... the biggest game on earth."

Ageless Bikers Club has 10 bike rides that are 16-35 miles. No one is left behind and members stop often to regroup and socialize. Several rides are "out and back," so the beginner can turn back for a shorter ride. The start times are seasonal.
