Lake Hamilton's junior high boys finished their cross country season undefeated after taking first place in the Garland County Invitational junior high meet on Saturday at Oaklawn Park.

The junior Wolves took first place with 19 points and all four top finishers in the 3,200-meter race. Lakeside placed second with 38 points and El Dorado finished third with 84.

Lake Hamilton's Olivia Pielemeier also outdueled Lakeside's Whitley Terry to win the girls' race and lead her team to first place. The junior Wolves also scored 19 points in the girls' race with five of the top six finishers.

Lakeside was second with 58 points. El Dorado's team placed third with 62.

The team's top six freshmen were moved up to the senior high team earlier this month. Lake Hamilton and Lakeside's senior high teams will be involved in the 5A-South conference meet on Thursday at Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia.

Lake Hamilton's junior high girls won all but one of their events this season. They placed fourth overall with five runners in the top 78 out of 525 finishers in their race at the 30th annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in September.

Pielemeier finished with a time of 13:28. Terry was close behind at 13:32.

El Dorado's top runners, Alexa Dewey and Addyson Taylor, placed ninth and 11th at 16:07 and 16:18, respectively. Lakeside's Elizabeth Chipps finished 10th at 16:15.

Terry's points proved decisive for second place in the team standings as El Dorado's five scorers finished in the top 26. Lakeside's last two scorers were Maddie Brown and Jenna Farewell in 32nd and 35th at 19:36 and 19:59, respectively.
