Setting the stage

Dear editor:

We're being set up for a big fall if Republicans continue to control all three branches of the federal government, something Thomas Jefferson called tyranny.

House Speaker Paul Ryan has been salivating over taking our nearly $3 trillion in the Social Security Trust Fund and handing it off to Wall Street so they can skim a huge percentage off the top his entire career and now Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-KY, has said the budget deficit is "disturbing" and that they may have to take a look at entitlements because their tax cuts aren't paying for themselves. What a surprise, senator -- rational people knew that before you voted the tax scam into law and I believe you knew it as well, and that it's always been a ruse to trick the American people into letting you privatize Social Security and cut our beloved Medicare. It does not occur to them for one minute to reverse some of their tax cuts to their billionaire backers.

George W. Bush told his biographer, Mickey Herskowitz, in 1999, before he became president in 2000, that he was going to have his war and gain enough political capital that he could privatize Social Security, which he tried really hard to do but the people rejected it and him. Republicans have had Social Security in their crosshairs since its inception and now they may just get their way unless we vote them out of power. Already Republicans and the man who would be dictator is accusing Democrats of wanting to destroy both programs so they're setting the stage to shift blame.

Please people, pay attention to those you blindly cast your vote for before it's too late.
