Hot Springs Geology Club to meet Thursday at ASMSA
The October meeting of the Hot Springs Geology Club will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts, 200 Whittington Ave.
The program speaker will be fellow club member and former seven-year club president Bill Davidson, who will present a show-and-tell of his trip to the Big 5 National Parks, a state park and a national monument in Utah. He will talk about the parks in Utah and the geology that made it all happen.
Ouachita Mountain Hikers to hike Petit Jean State Park
The Ouachita Mountain Hikers will hike 5 miles in Petit Jean State Park on Thursday. The club will also hike Hunts Loop on Saturday. Check the website http://www.omhikers.net or email the club at [email protected] for updates and more information on these and other upcoming OMH activities.
Whitfield Garden Club to meet at 1:30 p.m. at Huntleigh Wood
Whitfield Garden Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. today at Huntleigh Wood Country Club.
Hostesses are Joyce Weaver, Mary Lou Laux and Rosemary Hadlock.
The program will be White Elephant sale.

HSV Democrats to host candidate forum Friday
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- The Democratic Club of Hot Springs Village will host a candidate forum at its annual Oktoberfest meeting on Friday at the Coronado Community Center, 150 Ponderosa Lane. The event starts with a social "hour" with a seasonal buffet at 3 p.m., followed by the meeting/forum beginning at 3:45 pm.
Featured will be the Democratic candidates for lieutenant governor, Dr. Anthony Bland, attorney general, Mike Lee, secretary of state, Susan Inman, land commissioner, Larry Williams, state senator District 14, Michael Colgrove, state representative District 22, Kevin Rogers, and other candidates in attendance. All Villagers are welcome to hear these candidates' proposals for the future.
