Local variety store employees reportedly robbed at gunpoint

Employees of a local variety store were reportedly robbed at gunpoint late Friday by an unknown male, according to a Garland County sheriff's report.

A cashier, 33, at Dollar General, 830 Mountain Pine Road, said a male entered the store shortly before 10 p.m. and pointed a gun at her, ordering her to open the cash register and the safe. She gave him money from the register, but she told him only a manager could open the safe.

At that point, the suspect pointed the gun in the face of the assistant manager, 37, and ordered her to give him all the money. She reportedly complied and opened the safe and gave the male an undisclosed amount of cash.

At that point, the suspect fled the store in an unknown direction. No one was hurt in the incident. The incident report did not include any description of the suspect other than an unknown male. No vehicle description was listed, either.

Anyone with information about the robbery should call the sheriff's department at 622-3660.
