A body that was found in a wooded area in Mountain Pine on Aug. 31 has been identified as a Pine Bluff man, according to the Garland County Sheriff's Department.
The body, which was located by the Mountain Pine Marshal's office, was identified by the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory as Robert J. Hodges Jr., 34, of Pine Bluff, the sheriff's department said in a news release on Thursday.
"The investigation into the cause of his death is ongoing, and anyone with information should call the Garland County Sheriff's Department Criminal Investigation Division at 501-622-3690," the release said.
The sheriff's department said Saturday that the marshal's office located the body at around 4:19 p.m. Aug. 31 near 11th Avenue in Mountain Pine and called for assistance from the sheriff's department, which responded with patrol units and investigators to process the scene, along with the Garland County coroner.
The body, which had not been identified, was sent to the state crime lab to determine identification and the cause of death.
